The Many Faces of Histiocytosis: Decoding Diagnosis, Dodging Pitfalls, and Mastering the Mimics
Hosted by the Education Committee
Date: March 19, 2026
Time: 11:00am-12:30pm Eastern Time (US)
Histiocytic disorders are derived from the mononuclear phagocyte system composed of monocytes, macrophages and dendritic cells. Diagnosing histiocytosis could be challenging due to its frequent overlap with reactive histiocytic proliferation. This session will focus on practical diagnostic strategies, integration of morphology with immunophenotype and genetics studies, and recognition of key mimics that challenge even experienced pathologists. By aligning updated classification frameworks with real-world diagnostic dilemmas, we aim to refine diagnostic precision while avoiding common traps in this heterogeneous and rapidly advancing field.
